Surviving La Foret Grand Summer Bazar 2014.

How have you all been doing? I am extremely stressed and on top (or because of..?) that I got very very very sick last week, I was super dizzy, I threw up all my food I could not walk more than 10 meters and it was just plain horrible. It might be the extreme heat + the stress I guess but I am better now. I am leaving my dorm next week soooo I have so much to do you can’t probably even imagine. I’ll try to write some posts beforehand so you won’t be without me for ever because I won’t be able to blog the first ~10 days in Korea because my boyfriend is visiting and I am attaining a seminar afterwards.

Soooo just a quick update today. Better than nothing, right? I was in Tokyo on Monday because I had to apply for my Korean visa (like not even two weeks before I leave, great organization Korea University…) and since you had to apply from 09:00 – 11:30AM I went super early and spend some time in Harajuku afterwards. Of course it was like 100°C and I was dying whenever I was outside but it’s like that for some weeks now so I probably should get used to it.

The big department store La Foret had Grand Summer Bazar so I thought it would be a good idea to go there and see if I find anything nice. I don’t know why I thought that was a good idea. I’ve been living in Japan before but I totally forgot what sales are like. Not even close to the things in Germany, when a big sale is in Japan, hell is breaking loose. I kid you not.

Yes, yes, the decoration for advertising sales in Japan are generally very subtle. I mean, you could miss an amazing opportunity so better have 1000+ balloons in front of it and poster everything. With the same motive. Because the message becomes stronger when you have 1000 posters saying the same…. (not). Also that girl on the right; with her self-made advertisement board and something to scream at the customers. 

I personally have no idea why sales in Japan are how they are. It is seriously incredible. All these people who are in general very nice and super polite and silent and whatever to you are SCREAMING at you 24/7 when there is a sale. They will repeat the same phrases for hours and don’t hesitate to scream even with loud music in the background. I don’t even know how these loud noises could come out of all these tiny bodies…

So needless to say, I had a headache after 5 minutes upon entering. Like, really. I totally forgot about this aspect of Japanese culture, how could I! It was not very fun for me at all and I was more stressed than able to enjoy the bargain. I did not buy anything except for an addition to my piercing because I bought stuff already before in Harajuku and I also didn’t find a really good deal on anything but it also was the last day… I don’t even want to imagine what it must have been like on opening day.

Although I did not buy anything it reminded me of how bad I hate sales and special bargains in Japan because it is always very very noisy and not relaxing at all. On the contrary, they really have some great bargains, especially in the lolita-section where dresses are very very expensive – you can go very far with 50, 70 or even 80%!  I personally prefer my shopping experience to be less stressful however 🙂
